Screw dies are core precision molds used in the field of metal plastic forming for cold heading, hot forging, or extrusion processes, enabling the high-volume, high-efficiency manufacturing of threaded parts for fasteners such as screws, bolts, and rivets. Their core function is not cutting, but rather reshaping the metal through physical deformation: a pre-cut metal wire (or rod) is placed into the mold cavity, and under immense pressure, the metal is squeezed and flows, filling the precisely engraved reverse thread cavity on the inner wall of the mold. This process forms the thread profile, pitch, and accuracy in a single step or in stages. This process is efficient and material-saving, and the resulting metal flow lines are complete, resulting in thread strength that is typically higher than that achieved through machining.
